Facebook may have finally met its end. Google has just confirmed the development of GoogleMe, a full on facebook competitor to rival yet another aspect of social networking. You can check the full article here. Although not many details have been released, Google does make it sound like GoogleMe will run on a lot of the same interface as facebook. It has not yet been confirmed if Google would integrate apps into it (such as Google buzz). Above anything else, I personally believe the name “GoogleMe” carries a lot of value in itself. This will certainly be something to watch for as Google continues to take over the world.
Prepare for the largest annual developer conference Google holds. It will take place May 19th-20th and be held in San Francisco. The excitement level is high for open source developers using Google, as much anticipated information is slated to come out throughout the conference. You can actually view the entire conference schedule here.
Sadly, the event is completely sold out. But do not worry. You can view it live via streaming on the Google Developers YouTube channel. If you are unable to catch it live, recordings will also be posted following the conference on the same channel.
Advertising exists everywhere around us. From TV to radio, billboards to websites, we are exposed to ads. If you are unfamiliar with Google’s advertising campaign, be sure to check out Adwords (which I will post about in an upcoming day). Currently, Google’s Adwords is a main source of revenue for the company. But they do not seem to be stopping there. In fact, Google is thinking about expanding to advertising through Captcha. Captcha is a service that stops spamming. You know, the little box that you have to enter a random word/words into that sometimes don’t even make sense (as pictured below). Soon, this box will include advertisements (possibly through services such as Google).
So what does this mean for us?
If you are a small business looking to get the word out for your product(s), this will be a very efficient and inexpensive way of doing so. Your reach will be great and at a low cost. Sadly, this is currently only in the Beta form. But you can try it out yourself here. As an entrepreneur or business person, this should excite you. Look for an announcement from Google shortly.
